 NEED BARN CATS?

If you need barn cats that come spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and in good health, email us @ spayitforwardnfp@yahoo.com

You must provide proper food, water, and shelter to the cats, as they cannot live on mice; and will wander off if not provided with daily cat food.

There is no adoption fee for spayed/neutered barn cats, but you must fill out an application. Many of the cats come from the streets of inner cities, and others from hoarders with too many cats to care for. Barns offer them a second chance at a decent life. They are not disposable, so only serious caretakers need inquire.

*PRE-SURGERY *

Please remember that all cats being taken for spay/neuter surgery by the owner, must have food and water withheld 10-12 hours before surgery; just as you would for a human. Animals that have food/water in their systems going under anesthesia can vomit and aspirate into their lungs resulting in death.

All cats must be taken to the vet in individual, safety-checked crates. Please check all screws, locks, bolts and the cage door before taking your cat outdoors for travel.

*POST-SURGERY*

All indoor cats must be kept quiet for up to a week post surgery. This means limit their jumping, playing, running.

All feral cats must be kept in their cage/crate overnight, as they are still under the effects of anesthesia. If you can keep them in a garage/crate for a couple of days to let the healing begin, that would be in the cat's best interest.

Think of it in terms of a human having a hysterectomy/vasectomy, you would not go excercise/run the following day, as you stand a chance of blowing your stitches, getting a hernia, etc.

DOG SURGERY APPOINTMENTS

When taking your dog in for spay/neuter, please be advised that the veterinarians mandate that each dog receive a Bordetella, Rabies, and Distemper vaccine, as well as a negative heart worm test before under going anesthesia. You need to bring proof of vaccinations to the vet clinic, if your pet has already had these done.

*PRE-SURGERY*

Please remember that all dogs being taken for spay/neuter surgery by the owner, must have food and water withheld 10-12 hours before surgery; just as you would for a human. Animals that have food/water in their systems going under anesthesia can vomit and aspirate into their lungs resulting in death.

All dogs must be taken to the vet on a secure leash and collar.

* POST-SURGERY*

Dogs, especially females must be kept quiet and CANNOT jump onto couches, beds, or into vehicles post-surgery. They will blow their stitches which puts the animals life in danger and can be very expensive to repair/remedy. Please keep your pet's activities limited for at least 3 days, preferably 7 days.

Green Pastures Memorial Page

We have added a memorial page to our website. For a $25 donation, we will honor your pet’s memory with a picture and short memorial. As always, all donations go directly to spay/neuter the animals in our community. Please see the memorial page for instructions.

Donations

We operate solely on donations from the public and fundraisers. 100% of the money goes to the animals. Operating supplies, such as, humane traps, gas, envelopes, etc. are donated by our founders. We need the continued support of the community to keep going. In our first 7 months, we have spayed/neutered 186 animals within our county, not too shabby. We have about 75 waiting to be done, and the applications keep coming. So, please support our fundraisers or send a donation to Spay It Forward, NFP  139 S. Main St. Seneca, IL 61360
