Spring Parasite and Spay/Neuter Fund Drive

What we need.
Dewormer (Drontal) is $260 per bottle, Flea treatments are $15-$20 per dose, spay/neuter works vary (open wounds, bad teeth, microchips, flea treatments, vaccines, combo tests on adoptables), but run $160-$350 each.

We have a large colony to finish spay/neuter on this spring, have had enormous vet bills due to bite/fight wounds on established cats by newly dumped cats fighting for survival, and would love to be able to raise enough to get the resident cats parasite free and flea protected to start the season.

Yikes! A Giant Tapeworm
I saw what I thought was straw on Big Guy’s rear end on 2/20/20, and found that it was a giant tapeworm frozen outside of his anus. I immediately asked Dr. Clayton to order a bottle of Drontal which would cover 33 cats at a discount price of $260.

Here’s to hoping that we can raise some money to cover the dewormer, the first month of flea-preventative for all that I can touch, and some spay/neuter money. We just paid off our fall/winter bill at Fox Valley this week, including Buford’s neuter works.

All of these extra needs, cut into our daily food, and spay/neuter monies that we raise from physical fundraising. We have cared for these ferals and semi-ferals for 11 years, or the bulk of their lives, and as they age, their financial needs become greater.

Very few strays are fortunate enough to find an empty cage/kennel within the shelters, the others have no option. In order to end overpopulation, we need to spay/neuter the animals on the streets, in the alleys, and tied to the backyard trees, these are the animals who need spaying/neutering, both for their health and to lessen the number euthanized each year, for lack cage space or homes.

Easter Eggstravaganza

A big success! Thanks to all who attended and especially to those who volunteered.

Saturday, April 8 2017 at 12 PM – 2 PM

Our annual Egg hunt and Hot Dog Lunch will start promptly at noon in Crotty Park. 2,000 eggs are spread out for three different age groups so that everybody gets plenty of eggs and nobody gets trampled in the process.
The egg hunt is followed by a hot dog lunch in the pavilion.
There will be easter basket raffles at the sign-in station. The donation is $5 per participant to help cover some of the expenses for this event. As always, everyone will leave with a full belly and a prize valued at $5+. In addition to the boys and girls raffle baskets ($1 per chance), we will be raffling off a Hatchimal Draggle at $3 per chance for one lucky winner.
